We used a editing program called Final Cut Pro to edit the shots of a film. We learnt how use the main features of the software, this has allowed us to gain experience and it helped us so we can use this software in editing our own short film.

Today me and my partner Taylan Akkas presented our work to the class.
These are the points we gained after we presented the work.
- They liked the idea of our film and the said that it is very ambicious but if we put the effort it will work.
- They thought the idea about the freinds receiving the DVD was abit to long and we will not be able to have enough time to get to the main part on the movie.
- Also they thought our ideas may be out of our budget.
- They also thoguht ti woulld be good to have music.
- We would need to add special effects such as gunshots.
- Reduce the number of actors.

Case study 3: Transporter 3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pbh3CDBNIQA
The film “The Transporter” is an action film based on a guy who is very skilled in fighting and driving. The fact that he is professional at these skills he gains attention of others and they pay him to do many things including violence and crime.
The scene I will be concentrating in this film is the car scene. In this scene the camera shots are very effective and useful. The shots that are used are shot reverse shot and
medium shot. This allows the audience to understand the dialogue between the two characters in the car. Also it creates suspense as the camera switches from one face to another rapidly.

The themes in this film are again
about power and glory.
In this film it is not easy to relate to but oppositely imagine because the characters are very hero like. Again we see the power of the main character by him being unstoppable and fighting and chasing everyone. He winning the fights against other character allows the audience to see his power. We also see that this character gets dressed in suits and owns a high priced car just like Ezel showing us the power and status. The fact that when a fight scene occurs the camera shots are very fast. When the main character fights and defeats the other characters the shots change into a wide shot so the audience can see that the bad characters are on the floor (low status) and the main character is strong and non-touchable.

Case study 2: Turkish Soap - Ezel
A drama/soap called Ezel will be a very useful sauce for our short film. Ezel is a Turkish crime drama TV series that was initially broadcasted and is mainly about many groups of people creating conflict between each other.
In Ezel there are many scenes where characters get kidnapped and get kept hostage in a certain place. This is very important for us because the use of the location in the scene in Ezel is very effective. The fact that the location is dark and looks worn out give the unstable idea and it also gives the audience a good idea that the thing that they are doing is not right. The fact that the camera used establishment shot and pans around allows the audience to clearly see the location and see the mise en scene. There are many characters in the scene creating suspense.
Also the other camera shots used are close up and medium shots to get a clear view of the hostage and the other characters.
The themes of this film are very similar to district 13 but this film is more serious. The themes in this movie are money and power. These themes are explored throughout the film and we see many times the difference between rich and poor. The fact that the powerful characters are dressed in suits and the less powerful characters in casual clothes gives the audience the status of characters. For example the main character Ezel Did not have much power before and lived in a normal house with his mum, dad and brother(very stereo typical family). As the film goes on Ezel becomes rich and gains more power. His house changes and he decides he lives with his girlfriend with high priced cars and items. This is an archetype character. The objects and money Ezel gains represents the power and status. Towards the end of the movie Ezel dies and this is trying to give us a message that the evil way of gaining money and power always ends bad. This is a message to the audience. The themes in this film are again about power and glory.
Case study 1: D13 U - District 13 Ultimation
District 13 is an Action, sci - fi, thriller which shows the social problems such as violence, drugs and organized crime have overrun the poorer suburbs of Paris and especially a Banlieue commonly referred to as ghetto with a population of some two million. Unable to control B13 the authorities construct a high wall topped by barbed wire around the entire area forcing the inhabitants within to survive without education, proper utilities or police protection behind the containment wall.
The themes in this film are crime and violence/fighting. The themes are very imaginary and hero like. The theme of fighting is explored throughout the film. The fast cutting and the fighting scenes creates a theme of violent. The fact that the non-diegetic sound is a soundtrack allows the audience to be in a excited mood.
The characters in the film are very hero like. The main character in this movie is a free runner which can fight and take on any one (which this is very imaginary) and the idea that his a free runner portrays that his untouchable. Also this character meets up with a partner who also is very strong and untouchable. Again it gives the audience the idea of hero like behaviour. The changing shots portray the fast action in the movie.
The structure of this movie is very similar to the idea of our short film. The fact that there is a lot of action and violence this may allow us to understand the camera shots we need to use in our action based movie. Also in this movie there is a character running away from others this also relates to our scene where the hostage gets away. For example in District 13 the character that is running away jumps over a car the shots they have used are Medium , Cut away , and Worms eye view shot. These are the shots we will be using for our getaway scene. This movie mainly will help us with the shots and the acting of the characters. Shots used are Medium, Cut away , and Worms eye view shot.

Today me and my partner Taylan Akkas decided on our scences. We have decided that first scene is going to take place in a warehouse/basement and there will be a character being kept as a hostage. We will be using alot of special effects such as fake blood and posthetic make up to make the scene more believable and interesting. The next scene will be a out door scene where the character tahts being held as hostage will escape by help of other characters. Also there will be motorbikes and cars involved in the scene to add excitment with wide range of shots.
